        North West Net, Inc. - bright.net would like all its customers to know that viruses and Spyware are becoming more and more of a threat to the internet community and everyone involved.  There are many viruses out there today, along with many forms of Spyware. Some are very difficult to remove, let alone detect. Virus and Spyware infections can cause computer issues like disconnects, slow connectivity, no connectivity, computer reboots for no reason, sending Spam from your computer without you knowing, and many others.

               If you do not have anti-virus software on your computer, we are asking you to PLEASE acquire some immediately.  The software can be purchased through most computer stores.  If you currently have the software on your computer, please check if it is running an update and virus scan on a daily/weekly schedule. Also check and make sure it is updating. Anti-Virus updates come out weekly, sometimes daily, so please verify by manually updating your software.  If you can’t purchase an Anti-Virus program, you can download AVG Anti-Virus (free for non-commercial use), Avast Anti-Virus (free for non-commercial use), or several others from http://www.download.com. There are online scans too: http://housecall.antivirus.com that you can use to get additional viruses cleaned off. Viruses can and will ruin your computer in time. So please be aware this is a real threat to not only your computer, but every computer on the Internet as well.

             Besides virus scans, we are also asking that everyone scan their computers for Spyware.  Spyware is software that accumulates on you computer over time without you knowing it and causes pop up windows, advertisements, and general computer problems.  To clean Spyware off your computers, you can download any of several programs:  SpyBot or AdAware from www.download.com.  Once you download the programs, you can update them and run scans to help in eliminating annoying Spyware.

             After running Virus and Spyware scans with the various programs or online scans, please contact a professional and have your machine looked at if you have troubles cleaning the items off your machine. They should be able to clean potential virus and Spyware that might be embedded in to the computer.
